Global warming has meant that Iceland loses tons of glacier ice each year. Unofficially, the Okjökull is the first glacier to have completely disappeared. By way of this film, the filmmakers and anthropologists Dominic Boyer and Cymene Howe give Ok a voice: a sorrowful, primordial sound, spoken by the most famous comedian on the island. Based on interviews on the street and with artists, they draw attention to the story of Okjökull and the local significance of the glacier, which for Icelanders has always been part of their lives and their history. But the film Not Ok – the title refers to the abbreviated name of the glacier – touches on a global issue of course. Tip: look out for the musical instrument made of stone.
