What happens when things go wrong in the hills? If you’re lucky, intrepid mountain rescue volunteers will be on stand-by to help stranded or injured individuals, as happens in 72 Hours. The Ukrainian documentary maker Dmytro Hreshko follows a rescue team, who - with the aid of local information, avalanche probes and metal detectors - go in search of a skier who has not got back to his hotel. Wind, snow and rain hamper the operation which takes place in the Ukrainian Carpathians. The title refers to the maximum duration of a rescue, but most inexperienced snow tourists never survive for more than 24 hours.
